What is a Scrutiny Panel?

Scrutiny Panels provide an opportunity for members of the public to observe, review and challenge real policing activity in a safe and structured environment.

During the session, participants will:

Receive a brief overview of police powers such as Stop & Search

Watch real body‑worn video footage of police interactions

Discuss and reflect on officer actions, communication and decision‑making

Share their views on whether policing was fair, respectful and proportionate

Your Role

As a panel member, you will:

Provide honest feedback on policing tactics, powers and procedures

Help identify good practice and areas for improvement

Contribute to shaping how South Wales Police delivers fair and effective policing
